Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Cosmetics Batch(“we”, “us”) handles information when you use https://cosmeticsbatch.com. We built Cosmetics Batch to minimize personal data: no account is required and our batch-code dataset does not contain IP addresses or names.

Information we collect

Batch codes & searches. The batch codes you enter are sent securely to our server to calculate a manufacture date. For checks that appear to come from real users, we may retain the batch code, selected brand, result, language, time and a country-level code supplied by our network provider. We use this append-only dataset to measure decoder quality and investigate invalid formats. We do not include your IP address, name, email address or account identifier in this dataset.

Local storage.To improve your experience we may store small items in your browser's local storage — for example your recently selected brands and your light/dark theme preference. This data stays on your device and is not sent to us.

Anonymous product analytics.We record the requested page path, language and time, plus one approximate visit event per browser tab session. We use these totals to understand which pages are useful and where the product needs improvement. On the first visit we also reduce the browser's landing attribution to a coarse category such as Google, Yandex, another search engine, social, referral, shared link, or direct/private share. We may retain a bounded referring hostname for an external referral, but never its path or query. Raw referrer URLs and campaign query strings are discarded after classification. These events do not contain an IP address, cookie or browser identifier, email address, or URL query string. Referrer-less direct visits and links opened from private apps cannot be reliably separated and therefore share one category. The visit total remains an approximate session count, not a count of verified unique people.

Code photos you submit. If you voluntarily send a packaging photo, we retain the image, selected brand, optional product name, EAN/GTIN, PAO shown on the package, visible batch code, note and submission time in a private research and review queue. A reply email is required, retained with that private submission and used to contact you about its review; no account is created. The browser resizes and re-encodes supported images before upload to remove embedded EXIF data such as GPS location. Please make sure faces, addresses, receipts and other personal details are not visible. We may crop and publish useful portions as examples only when you grant the permission shown in the submission form. These submissions are not linked to an account or stored with an IP address. The private queue is used for review, research, support, abuse prevention and maintaining verified examples. We do not currently apply a fixed automatic deletion period to this queue. We review records when they are no longer needed for those purposes, and you may ask us to locate and delete your submission.

Contact messages. If you use our contact form, we privately retain the selected message type, reply email, subject, message and submission time so we can review and answer complaints, suggestions, corrections and questions. Contact messages and photo submissions are not included in anonymous product-usage analytics or query-data exports. Please do not send passwords, payment details or other sensitive information.

Email service provider. We use Resend to deliver transactional email. When you contact us or submit product evidence, Resend may process the reply address, message or submission details and attached images needed to deliver our notification and response. We do not use those details for marketing.

Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically record standard technical information (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) for security and reliability. These logs are not used to personally identify you.

Cookies & advertising

Optional analytics. Google Analytics and Yandex Metrica are not currently loaded. We do not show a separate first-party cookie banner or use it as a substitute for advertising consent.

We use third-party advertising through Adsterra to keep Cosmetics Batchfree. Adsterra may use pseudonymous identifiers, device/browser data and impression or click data to serve and measure advertising. Read the Adsterra privacy policy and cookie policy.

The site shows a three-choice advertising preference panel before loading Adsterra scripts. Accepting advertising allows personalization; rejecting personalization or accepting required items only keeps the required advertising load.

How we use information

We use the limited information above to operate, secure and improve the website, and to display advertising. We do not sell your personal information.

Retention and deletion

Batch-code checks and privacy-minimized activity records are written to an append-only quality dataset. Contact messages and product evidence are kept in separate private review queues. We do not currently promise a fixed automatic deletion period for these records. We keep them while they remain reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, security, support and maintaining verified examples. You may request deletion; because no account identifier is attached to a check, we may need its approximate time, brand and code, or a submission reference, to locate the record.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under the GDPR, UK GDPR or CCPA — including access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data, and objecting to certain processing. Because we do not maintain personal accounts or attach batch-code checks to a direct account identifier, we may need the approximate check/submission time, brand, code or photo reference to locate an entry. You can also ask us to remove a submitted photo before publication. Browser-only preferences can be removed by clearing your browser storage. Children's privacy

Cosmetics Batch is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Our site may link to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, and we will update the “Last updated” date above.

Language and interpretation

This Privacy Policy is maintained in English. Any automated, translated or interpreted version is provided for convenience only. If there is any inconsistency, the English version is authoritative.
