Kérastase inspection guidance
Where to find the Kérastase batch code by package type
A shampoo bottle, masque tub, serum bottle, refill pouch and treatment tube do not offer the same surfaces. Begin with the container base and lower rear label. On a tub, inspect the underside; on a tube, inspect the sealed crimp; on a refill, check the sealed edges and back panel. If the product has a folding carton, compare its bottom and top flaps with the container.
Use side light on dark, curved or reflective packaging and take a full-package photograph before the close-up. The suggested locations are an inspection sequence, not a fixed Kérastase rule. Keep the product name, size and market text visible so the short mark is not detached from its pack.

What the observed 22U401 marking can establish
22U401 is an observed short L'Oréal-family production marking used here to show the kind of field that belongs in the checker. The available evidence does not pair this particular Kérastase mark with an independently printed manufacture date, and Kérastase does not publish a public date cipher for it. The page therefore leaves its production month unresolved.
Do not infer a universal length or decode each character yourself. Keep the short marking separate from the EAN beneath the barcode, a product reference, a formula or shade identifier and any calendar date. Photograph the surrounding panel before transcription, especially when U, V, 0 or O could be confused.

Production date, printed date and PAO answer different questions
A production-lot mark supports manufacturing traceability. A printed expiry or minimum-durability date gives a calendar instruction for that exact pack. The open-jar PAO value begins when the product is first opened. Read all three independently rather than calculating an expiry date from an unresolved lot mark.
Kérastase sells shampoos, masques, oils, serums, scalp treatments and refills with different formulas and packaging. This guide does not assign one unopened life or one PAO to all of them. Use the date, PAO and storage directions printed on the exact item. Record the opening date for products used intermittently.

If the Kérastase checker cannot read the mark
First rule out the long barcode number, product reference and a cropped fragment. Retype the short mark without spaces and compare O/0, I/1, B/8 and U/V against the original. Inspect the bottle base, rear label, tube crimp, tub underside and carton flaps under several light angles. Do not rub off ink or peel a label to improve contrast.
A clear but unsupported mark can reflect a format outside the current evidence set. Send one image showing the complete product and one close view of each candidate field. Include the product line, format, size, market and whether the carton is available.

A product-specific checklist for hair care and treatments
For shampoo and conditioner, include the bottle base, shoulder and lower rear label. For a masque, record the tub base and lid together. For a serum, oil or scalp treatment, include the bottle base, dropper or pump presentation and any outer box. For a refill pouch or ampoule set, photograph the sealed edge and the box before separating components.
When seeking Kérastase support, provide the exact product name, product line, size, country of purchase, lot mark, barcode panel, lifecycle symbols and storage concern. The official Kérastase catalogue and L'Oréal production information help identify the product family, while the physical label controls the answer for the item in hand.
